“Club Aston†presented by Galpin Motors’ Premier Collection is a 3,700-square foot showcase for its exclusive Aston Martin line of luxury autos that transforms the automotive purchase into a unique experience. The one-of-a-kind private club is appointed with amenities that rival the best social clubs in Los Angeles. “Club Aston†will quickly become the next elite place to meet and be seen. Entrance is limited as it will only be granted to those in search of a new luxury ride.Â
Designed by Robert Plant of Ortiz/Plant of Laguna Beach under the direction of Galpin Vice President and Chief Designer Beau Boeckmann, Club Aston is an exclusive retreat that just happens to also house some of the world’s most exclusive vehicles. Key design cues were influenced by 60’s and 70’s British and American spy epics. “We have created an elite, chic and stylish atmosphere for our Aston Martin buyers and owners,†says Boeckmann. “We wanted the space to reflect a fabulously furnished penthouse that is formal, yet relaxing, and completely in keeping with the lifestyle and demands of the typical Aston Martin customer.â€
The ambience and mystique begins at the Club Aston entry rotunda, hidden in Galpin’s Premier Collection facility. Like many exclusive clubs, the entrance is discreetly disguised to maintain its exclusivity and allure. Behind the curved, sliding stainless steel door, which can be accessed only via a special key card, visitors will find a floor of perforated stainless steel panels with polished granite inserts, red leather-covered walls and a perforated stainless steel ceiling that sets the stage for the luxury that is about to unfold.
Entering the main lounge, with floors of Italian Travertine and deep pile carpets, guests find themselves surrounded by walls covered in sensuous Romanoff Suede, punctuated by travertine accent panels. Plush sofas and wing chairs create a relaxing environment and a comfortable area to reflect on the granite turntable with stainless steel columns and billowing curtains that barely conceals an Aston Martin model, which rotates seductively under backlit theatrical lighting, creating a mesmerizing effect.
Club Aston provides a discreet, peaceful escape for visitors, with a fireplace that creates an intimate ambience and a plasma screen wall unit that keeps track of world news, stock prices and sporting events. Cabinets figured in Anigre veneer and burl wood panels with granite tops surround a fully appointed burl wood bar area which provides a variety of refreshments for patrons while they peruse the display shelves of custom appointments from which they can create an individualized Aston Martin interior.
To one side a sliding stainless steel door swings open to reveal the Club Aston Vault, with its travertine floors and walls of complementary Venetian plaster and clear glass panels, where additional Aston Martin models are on display for patrons to inspect at their leisure.
A special staircase, with rolled aluminum wave panels at the ceiling, mirrored wall panels and travertine treads, leads guests to and from Club Aston and the service drive area. This second hidden entrance allows clients to enter and leave the facility unobserved, and to drop off or collect their vehicles without accessing the adjoining Galpin Motors’ showroom areas or venturing outside in the event of inclement weather.
“I do not believe there has ever been a facility like this in the retail automotive world,†says Boeckmann. “With Club Aston we have launched a new frontier in automotive retailing; one that recreates the elegance and luxury of an Aston Martin in the surroundings in which it is displayed, while generating a new level of sophistication for the world’s most discriminating automotive customers.â€
