Dallas Stars center Mike Modano had a lot to be grateful for — a new bride, becoming America’s greatest NHL scorer, being honored at “Mike Modano Tribute Night” on Thanksgiving eve at a capacity-filled American Airlines Center and a very special gift of time from his teammates.
Dallas Stars team captain and forward Brenden Morrow and fellow Stars teammates decided that Mike’s Nov. 7^th feat of becoming America’s all-time goals and points hockey leader deserved far more than a pat on the back or high five.

They wanted something that, like Modano, had timeless class, quality and an All-American image. To find the perfect gift, they went to deBoulle, Dallas’ leading jewelry store, which also carries one of the most extensive and high caliber lines of timepieces in the country.

“This accomplishment for Mike was very special to us as a team, so we wanted a gift that would forever be memorable on a personal level,” said Mr. Morrow. “We felt like we were part of the team effort to salute Mike,” deBoulle owner Denis Boulle said. “While we had many excellent watches, there was one that simply fit the occasion and Mike to a T.”

It was the Girard-Perregaux titanium ww.tc chronograph timepiece with black crocodile strap and titanium deployment buckle featuring a black dial highlighted with red, white and blue Arabic 12-dial, the date and the cities of the world on the outer dial. “When we saw the red, white and blue dial of the Girard-Perregaux, we knew we’d found the watch that matched Mike’s breaking the record for an American in scoring,” said Mr. Morrow.

To especially commemorate the occasion, the back of the watch was engraved with “All Time American Scoring Leader.” On the side of the watch was engraved Modano’s team number, “9.” 

Mr. Boulle and his staff arranged to have the watch ready for the Nov. 21^st “Mike Modano Tribute Night” at the Stars home game against the Anaheim Ducks.

“We felt honored when Mike had us provide his wedding bands recently,” said Mr. Boulle. “Now, to helping his teammates commemorate his latest accomplishment is truly flattering for us both personally and professionally.”
