Art Basel Miami Provides Perfect Piaget Canvas

Miami - Piaget partnered with renowned “members-only†club, Soho House, to host Art Basel Miami’s most exclusive party. In a breath-taking, specially-constructed tent on the beach, complete with chandeliers and custom-made English furniture, Piaget showcased its new “casino themed†pieces to a hand-picked crowd of art collectors, gallery owners, artists and tastemakers from around the world. “Artistry and design are part of Piaget’s DNA so Art Basel Miami is a natural fit for us,†stated Larry Boland, President of Piaget North America. “With so much going on though, we wanted to do something very special and very targeted—Soho House was the perfect partner.â€

Throughout the evening, Piaget candy girls circulated amongst the VIP crowd carrying trays filled with Piaget chocolates, poker chips and playing cards, as well a selection of fabulous merchandise. A “roulette inspired†pendant and matching timepiece were adorned with alternating playing cards on a black dial and 105 brilliant cut diamonds Another timepiece, set with 151 brilliant-cut diamonds, featured a whimsical watch strap made of red and black cut-out spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. The evening’s “high roller†was certainly Piaget’s one-of-a-kind ruby and diamond dice, paved with 1060 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 12.7 cts), 1056 rubies (approx. 15.5 cts) and a clock on the six side.
The excitement culminated with a high stakes blackjack tournament where guests competed to win a classic Piaget Altiplano timepiece in 18k yellow gold. After a tense seven rounds, James Campbell, Kimora Lee Simmons’ right-hand man, was declared the lucky winner and presented with the watch by Larry Boland.
In addition to Piaget’s participation in Art Basel Miami, the company will continue its involvement in the arts when it sponsors the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards this coming February in Los Angeles.
